This past week, Atlassian, the popular collaboration software company acquired Trello, the popular todo application, for $425M. Trello was built by Fog Creek Software, the company behind Stack Overflow as well. It was launched at 5 years ago at TechCrunch Disrupt and has amassed over 19M users since. Atlassian will pay for Trello with $360M in cash and the remainder in Atlassian restricted shares, according to ZDNet.
Atlassian is a collaboration software company that was founded 15 years ago. They are the company behind the JIRA suite of tools, HipChat, and BitBucket tools among others. Atlassian’s products are used by companies like Citigroup, Coca-Cola, and BMW among others.
